URL forwarding

Learn how to set up URL forwarding for your domain via DNS Administration in the control panel – HTTPS works automatically on the forwarding.

If you wish to forward a domain to a URL, this can be done through our DNS Administration, which you will find in our control panel.

If the webhosting plan you wish to forward to is hosted with Simply.com, you can also order the new domain as an associated domain; this is done through the Administration menu item in our Control Panel.

To set up a new URL forwarding, do the following:

  1. Log in to your control panel and select the domain.
  2. Select "DNS" from the menu
  3. Under "URL forwarding" you can now choose how your forwarding should work.
  4. Click "Set up forwarding"

Please note that you cannot set up forwarding to a URL that itself forwards on.

HTTPS on URL forwarding

HTTPS works automatically on URL forwardings set up through our DNS Administration. This means that your visitors are also forwarded, even if they access your domain via https://. You therefore do not need to set up an SSL certificate yourself or make any further settings - HTTPS is already enabled on your forwarding.

URL forwarding with .htaccess (PHP webhosting plans)

You can also forward your visitors to another domain with a .htaccess file on your webhosting plan.
The following lines of code in the .htaccess file on your webhosting plan will forward your visitors to the address you specify in the code:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule (.*) http://domænenavn.tld/ [R=301,L]
