Multiple domains on the same webhosting

Get unlimited domain aliases on a single webhosting plan at Simply.com with easy setup via the control panel.

You can have an unlimited number of additional domains on the same webhosting plan at Simply.com.

If you order a webhosting plan you can, via our control panel, attach multiple domains to the same webhosting plan; we call this a domain alias.

With this solution it is also possible to display different content for each domain by specifying which folder on the webhosting plan the domain should retrieve its content from. This is selected when creating your domain alias.

When you visit a domain alias in your browser, the address bar will not change, so the visitor cannot see that it is an attached domain. With this solution it is therefore possible to have a large number of domains using the same webhosting plan without a visitor being able to tell the difference.

Setting up a domain alias

To be able to attach a domain you simply need to order the new domain as a ‘DNS Service’ via our website. It is important that you order the DNS Service on the same account as your webhosting plan.

Once you have ordered your new DNS Service, together with the domain, you can, under the ‘Website’ menu item in our control panel, set up a domain alias for your webhosting plan. The menu item is found by first selecting the webhosting plan you wish to attach the domain to, within the control panel.

It is also possible, with the DNS Service product, to simply set up 301 URL redirects to your webhosting plan. This is easily done via the ‘DNS’ menu item for the individual DNS Service. With this solution the address bar in the browser does change, but any potential ‘duplicate content’ issues are resolved.

Domain alias with mail

A domain alias does not have its own mailbox to create addresses on, but you can set up a mail alias between the webhosting plan’s domain and the domain alias. If you require a separate mail service the domain simply needs to be upgraded to its own webhosting plan.

A mail alias works such that an e‑mail sent to an address on the alias, e.g. “hej@simply-alias.com”, is received at the corresponding address on the webhosting plan’s domain, e.g. “hej@simply-example.com”, provided that this address has been created.
