Secure mail is a very broad concept. Some believe the mail should be end‑to‑end encrypted, that the delivery should be encrypted, or simply that mails should be stored encrypted.
The “Secure Mail” concept in the public sector refers to the sender and recipient encrypting the content of the mail with their MitID/NemID. This, in other words, happens locally on the device you send and receive mail on, and has nothing to do with Simply.com.

We do not store mails in encrypted form on our servers. In principle we could do this, but for such storage to have any real value it would require the decryption key to be tied to the account’s password – a password known only to the owner of the mail account.
If that password were forgotten, all e‑mails on the account could never be decrypted and would therefore be lost.
If you wish to store mails in encrypted form on our servers, this must be done by the applications that send and receive mail.

Our mail servers and webmail fully support TLS 1.2/1.3, both for incoming POP3 and IMAP, as well as for sending and forwarding via SMTP provided the destination server supports it. Connecting with TLS/SSL through a mail client does not mean the content of the mail is encrypted; it only means the delivery of the mail is encrypted. TLS / STARTTLS can be used on the standard ports for this purpose.
Note that many mail clients distinguish between SSL and TLS; SSL is an outdated version of TLS – use TLS/STARTTLS where possible.
It is not technically possible to have two‑factor login for e‑mail, as the IMAP, POP3 & SMTP protocols do not support this concept and mail clients do not implement it.
You can achieve high security by using a long random password and always connecting with TLS/STARTSSL.
