Mail limits and policies

To ensure optimal performance of our mail system, we have a set of upper limits that senders and recipients must adhere to.
The limits follow general mail policies and generally protect against abuse of our mail services. These are not limits you would hit under normal use. We monitor and adjust the limits on an ongoing basis.

¶Incoming mail

• 60 incoming mails per minute, per recipient
• 3,600 incoming mails per hour, per recipient
• 86,400 incoming mails per day, per recipient
• 200 incoming mails per minute, per recipient domain
• 200 incoming mails per minute, per sender domain
• 300 incoming mails per minute, per sender server
• No limit on size of mail or attachments
• No limit on number of recipients per mail
• 20 concurrent POP3/IMAP connections per IP address, per email account

If exceeded, the mail will be rejected with a temperror so the sending server automatically retries later.

¶Outgoing mail (smtp.simply.com)

• Requires login with username and password
• Sending can only be done from the domain you are logged in as
• Cannot be used by Simply.com web servers
• No limit on size of mail or attachments
• Must NOT be used for bulk mailings, newsletters, cold mailing, or automated e‑mail marketing
• Emails are rejected if more than 300 outgoing mails are sent per minute, per sender
• Emails are rejected if more than 300 outgoing mails are sent per minute, per sender domain
• Emails are rejected if more than 300 outgoing mails are sent per minute, per user login
• Emails are rejected if more than 1,000 outgoing mails are sent per hour, per user login
• Email account may be automatically suspended for breaching the above, or if more than 300 mails – or mails to more than 300 recipients – are sent within two hours

• Sending can only be done from the domain you are logged in as
• Can only be used from Simply.com web servers
• No limit on number of mails
• No limit on size of mail or attachments
• No limit on number of recipients per mail
