HTTP 500 Internal Server Error
A 500 error is usually caused by errors in the .htaccess file or PHP code, check the logs, rename .htaccess and fix the syntax.
.htaccess file
A 500 error usually occurs when there is a syntax error in the .htaccess file on your web hosting. Errors in .htaccess files can arise if your site has been compromised or if you or your CMS have inserted invalid commands into it.
You can check the logs for recorded errors; this is done under “Website” > “Webserver logs” in our Control Panel.
Rename the .htaccess file, if necessary, to confirm whether it is causing the issue, then check and fix any errors in the file.
PHP code error
The error can also occur if there is a PHP code error on the web hosting (and display of PHP errors is disabled); this can, among other things, happen if your web hosting has run out of space or if code changes have been made. Ensure your CMS is configured to display code errors.
