Hide WHOIS information
After GDPR, WHOIS data is usually hidden for private individuals, while company information often still appears, with exceptions for certain TLDs.
After the introduction of the GDPR, information about domain ownership is no longer publicly available for most domain types. It is therefore no longer necessary to enable “Anonymous WHOIS” services or similar protection.
Which details appear in WHOIS now often depends on the legislation in the individual country and on the domain’s top‑level domain (TLD).
As a domain registrar, Simply.com always strives to ensure that as few details as possible are displayed publicly.
For businesses
If you register a domain as a company, you cannot be certain that the information will remain hidden, as company details are normally not considered personal data. For private individuals, personal information is generally hidden by default.
As a result of the NIS2 directive and specific rules for certain TLDs, some details – for example the e‑mail address – may still appear in public registers.
.dk domains
To hide information on .dk domains, name and address protection in the civil register is required.
