On all PHP suites there is a limit of 8 concurrent connections per user. Some FTP programmes may open multiple connections to optimise speed, and therefore the limit of 8 concurrent connections can be reached relatively easily.
This is especially a problem with the programmes CuteFTP and FileZilla.
If too many connections are made, we simply recommend waiting for the connections to close automatically, and possibly then configuring the chosen FTP programme to use fewer, or just one, concurrent connection.
There is no speed limit on the FTP transfer. Switching to “Active transfer mode” in your FTP programme can provide increased speed, although an improvement with the opposite (Passive transfer mode) is also possible. It is very dependent on your firewall, etc.
