Control panel says .dk domain is about to expire

Move your .dk domain to Simply.com management to have the correct expiry date displayed in the control panel.

The expiry date for .dk domains is shown provided Punktum dk allows the domain to be renewed via Simply.com.

The date shown is the final deadline to renew the domain through Simply.com.

Domains WITHOUT Simply.com management

If a domain is on Registrant management at Punktum Dk, the last renewal deadline via Simply.com is approximately 30‑75 days before the domain expires at Punktum dk. Punktum dk only changes the domain’s expiry date when the domain enters a new registration period and not necessarily when they receive payment.

Here is the explanation from Punktum dk themselves:

When an invoice is generated for a registrant managed domain name where the billing contact is a non-registrar, the domain names with expiration in a given calendar month are collected on a single invoice for the month as a whole. This mean that a given domain name can be marked for collection between 45 to 77 days prior to expiration. The 45 days are due to the constraints involving requirements for automatic payment via Betalings Service (BS) and since a domain name can have expiration by the end of the month, the length of the month has to be taken into account, extending the period with 30 days, giving a total of 77 days.

One solution is to switch the domain to Simply.com management, so the expiry date is shown correctly.

Switch to Simply.com management

The above only applies to .dk domains that are NOT on Simply.com management.
If you wish to have your domain moved to Simply.com management, and thereby see the precise expiry date in our Control Panel, this is done under “Administration” in our Control Panel. As a rule we recommend that ALL customers do this.

If no expiry date is shown

If no expiry date is shown, it is because the domain either does not point to Simply.com, or because Punktum dk has indicated that the domain cannot be renewed by Simply.com at the moment (for example because Punktum dk has sent you an invoice).

If you are unsure whether a domain has been renewed or not, you should contact Punktum dk or check it via Punktum dk self‑service.

Renewing .dk domains via Simply.com

You can freely choose to renew your .dk domain via our Control Panel, or you can choose to renew the domain via Punktum dk’s self‑service. If you do NOT renew the domain via Simply.com, Punktum dk will automatically send you an invoice when the domain approaches expiry. Once Punktum dk has invoiced the domain, you can no longer renew it via Simply.com.

If you have enabled automatic renewal, this will also apply to your .dk domain and it will therefore be renewed automatically together with your webhosting. If you do not want automatic renewal for .dk domains, or wish to avoid reminders about .dk domain renewals through our control panel, this can be disabled under the menu item Account Administration (choose Change account details).

Punktum dk invoices you for the renewal fee no later than the 10th of the month in which the domain’s registration period expires. The due date is the 8th of the first month after the registration period has expired (Yes, it is confusing).
