FTPS (FTP Secure / FTP-SSL) can be used to encrypt data sent over the FTP protocol. This applies to both login credentials and file data.
To establish a connection it is necessary to set your FTP client to use “Explicit SSL” over port 21.
At the same time it may be necessary to connect using Active Transfer, and for this active transfer to be carried out with the external IP address of your computer. Some FTP clients can detect this automatically, whereas others require you to manually specify your external IP address in the programme’s settings.
